We will kick off the festivities with a Meet & Greet Friday evening, May 3rd at 5:00 p.m.. Come and enjoy light snacks and network with our amazing presenters, your AMTA-Idaho Board members, and fellow therapists from throughout the Northwest.

Our annual AMTA Convention Banquet will be held Saturday evening. There will be a silent auction fundraiser benefiting the Massage Therapy Foundation throughout the weekend. Prepare to bid on some fabulous massage-related items!

Workshop offerings are:

Massage for People Living With Cancer (2 Day Workshop)-presented by Mary Aguilera-Titus

Comfort-oriented massage or touch can be administered to people with cancer regardless of the severity of their condition. The purpose of this class is to train touch therapists in the basics of oncology massage. The experience derived from this training will create newfound confidence in bodyworkers about working with clients, particularly private practice clients, who have cancer or are recovering from it. Therapists who focus on hospice and hospital work will also find this course to be valuable for their special needs patients.
The curriculum includes information on:
-Opening the heart to those with serious illness,
-Metastasis,
-Adjustments that must be made for clients who:
are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation or who have a history of it
have had surgical or medical procedures
are at risk for lymphedema
-How to perform intake with clients who have a history of cancer treatment

Significant time is devoted to hands-on practice including providing a supervised relaxation massage to someone with cancer or a history of cancer.

Items needed for workshop: massage table, 2 pillows, sheets, towels, massage oil/lotion. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Structural Release of the Hip (Saturday) and Structural Release of the Abdominals and Psoas (Sunday)-presented by Gary Schwander

STRUCTURAL RELEASE will teach the theory and techniques for structural realignment of the body. This can enable you to integrate and combine the conscious awareness of body, mind and spirit to facilitate advanced states of healing. The intent of the treatments is to balance the body into alignment with its environment, freeing the energy flow that will enhance the body’s physiological and psychological function.
The Hip course will assess and balance a tilted and rotated pelvis. A balanced pelvis will lead to structural integrity of the whole body.
The Abdominal course will release the diaphragm and abdominal cavity and free the psoas to increase and maintain the clients structural integrity.
During these workshops: We will review the anatomical structure of the areas being taught, learn structural assessment for the areas, learn the hands-on techniques and give and receive a two hour session. You will be able to immediately integrate the information learned in these courses into your current practice.

Items needed for workshop: Massage Table, Pillow/Bolster, & Sheets. Wear loose, comfortable clothing
